Privacy Policy
This policy explains, in plain language, what PDFTURA collects, why, and what we do with it. I've tried to write it the way I'd want a privacy policy explained to me — no vague legalese hiding the important parts. The short version: most of our tools run entirely inside your browser, so the files you work on usually never reach us at all.
The short version
Your files stay on your device for the majority of our tools. We don't sell your data, we don't run cross-site advertising trackers, and we don't ask you to create an account to use a tool. We collect the minimum we need to keep the site running, improve it, and stop abuse — and nothing more.
Your files
Most of our tools process your files entirely on your own device, inside your browser. For those tools, your file is never uploaded, never stored, and never seen by us — it physically cannot leak from a server it never touched. A small number of tools genuinely require server processing. For those, your file is uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, processed in an isolated temporary location, and deleted automatically within one hour. We never keep the contents of your files, and we never read them for any purpose other than performing the task you asked for.
Information we collect
We keep data collection deliberately small. Specifically, we collect: anonymous usage counts (which tool was used, whether it succeeded, and roughly how long it took) so we can see what's popular and what's breaking; basic technical information your browser sends with every request, such as the page visited and the type of device, used for aggregate analytics and to filter out bot traffic; and, if you choose to create an account, your name and email address. For abuse prevention and rate limiting we work from a one-way hashed form of your IP address rather than storing the raw address, and at signup we record an approximate country (derived from your connection) to understand where our visitors come from. We do not build advertising profiles about you.
AI tools
When you use one of our AI tools, the text you submit is sent to a third-party AI provider so the model can generate your result. We route requests across several free AI providers for reliability. Your input is used only to produce your result — we don't use it to train models, and we don't retain the contents beyond what's needed to return the answer to you and record basic, non-content usage metadata (such as which task ran and whether it succeeded). Please avoid pasting sensitive personal information into AI tools, as it does leave your device to reach the AI provider.
Accounts
Accounts are optional and free. If you create one, we store your name, email address, a securely hashed password (never the password itself), and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google provides. An account lets us save your tool history and give you higher limits on the AI tools. You can sign in with email and password or with Google — your choice.
Email & newsletter
We use your email address for essential account messages (such as verifying your address or resetting your password) and, only if you opt in, an occasional newsletter. Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also change your email preferences from your account settings at any time. We don't share your address with anyone.
Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies: one to keep you logged in, one to protect forms against cross-site request forgery, and a simple cookie that remembers you've already seen a promotional popup so we don't show it again. If advertising is shown on the site, the ad provider may set its own cookies; those are governed by that provider's policy. We do not use our own cross-site tracking cookies.
Advertising
The site may display advertising to cover the cost of keeping every tool free. Ads are served in a way that keeps the tools themselves clean and uncluttered. We don't hand advertisers your files, your account details, or the content you process.
Data retention
Files for server-side tools are deleted within one hour. Anonymous usage metrics are kept only in aggregate. Account data is kept for as long as your account exists — when you delete your account, your personal data is removed.
Your rights
If you have an account, you can view, export, or permanently delete your data at any time from your account settings — deleting your account removes your personal information from our systems. Wherever you live, you're welcome to make a privacy request (access, correction, or deletion) regardless of whether you have an account. Just reach us through the contact form and we'll take care of it.
Children
PDFTURA is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If our practices change, we'll update this page and revise the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll do our best to make it clearly visible. Questions about anything here? Reach us through the contact page — I'm happy to explain.
